Originally released on January 11, 1971, Pearl debuted Joplin’s final finished studio recordings. It was the only record Joplin recorded with the Full Tilt Boogie Band and included some of Joplin’s most iconic songs such as “Me and Bobby McGee” and “Mercedes Benz.” In 2012, a treasure-trove of previously uncatalogued tapes for the Pearl sessions were discovered and were released as The Pearl Sessions.

The record brings together for the first time the original mono versions of the album’s 45s alongside the original LP tracks and revelatory uncovered alternate versions, outtakes and vocal takes of Pearl’s classic tracks.
